At Covernet we believe that Career Development is key to both the growth of our company and the happiness of our team.
Our Career Development Framework, the 'Covernet Causeway', is designed to help guide our people in developing their own objectives and clarifying where they want to get to. The Causeway clearly outlines career pathways and defines the technical skills and behaviours needed for each role.
Each team member works with their manager and mentor to help define their own individual development plan based on where on the Causeway they are aiming to progress to next. These plans define clear, structured objectives and the practical training and opportunities needed to achieve them. They are supported by a culture of continual communication, with feedback built into every project, dedicated monthly 1-2-1’s, and 6 monthly formal reviews to ensure objectives and goals are reviewed and refocused, and once a goal has been achieved then it is recognised by promotion.
The success of our career development framework is often highlighted in the great employee feedback we receive, with the team being acknowledged through a number of industry awards, including Investors in People Gold certification and through the Great Place to Work programme which has awarded Covernet with Best Place to Work in Tech 2021 and 2022 accolades as well as the overall Best Place to Work in Northern Ireland in 2021.
Covernet College has been developed to provide a broad range of tools and resources that cater for professionals in every role and at every stage of their career. The College encompasses a Learning & Development Framework that supports both formal professional training and in-house workshops and brown-bag sessions to maximise knowledge transfer and personal development.
Professional Qualifications support is available across a range of disciplines, with financial assistance provided towards professional body memberships, materials, exams, study days and bonuses for achieving qualifications.
Individuals at all levels within the company are encouraged to run and attend knowledge transfer sessions on their own area of expertise or interest – this can be related to areas of our systems, new technologies, working practices or CSR activities they are keen to share with the team.
